She was born on October 24, 1954 in Coahuila, México to Maria Concepción Zamarripa Emiliano, and Jose Castañeda Ramirez. Esperanza was the eldest of 8 brothers and sisters.
On August 2, 1989, she married Robert Valdez, and together they shared 37 wonderful years of love and companionship. Esperanza was a dedicated mother to her Daughter Jocelyn and son Santiago and she was a dedicated and devoted spouse to her love Robert, and a loving grandmother to her two grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, infectious laughter, her tenacity, and strong will. Her ability to take care of others and maintain an impeccably clean home, her delicious home cooked meals and her love for dancing and singing and the love she had for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Maria Concepción Zamarripa Emiliano, her father Jose Castañeda Ramirez and her sister Margarita Perez. She is survived by her husband Robert Valdez, daughter Jocelyn Cohan, son Santiago Valdez her grandchildren Liam Cohan, and Siobhan Cohan and her brothers Everardo Castañeda, Gil Castañeda, Ciro Castañeda, Juan Castañeda, Benito Castañeda and sister Aurora Keasler.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a celebration of life at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Central , 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, Texas 79903.
