EVANGELINA (Eva/Lina) ARTALEJO, 93, our faithful and beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend was called home by God on Monday, June 30, 2025. She was born in El Paso, TX to Miguel B Estrada and Rosa Estrada on June 29, 1932. An El Paso High Tiger alumni, she was a member of the Legion of Mary in youth and a staunch keeper and defender of the Catholic faith throughout her life. She loved gardening and playing the piano. She was an animal lover since childhood, caring for her own pets as well as the neighborhood cats.
She is survived by her brother Miguel B. Estrada ll, children F. David Artalejo (Minerva), Patricia Artalejo, Daniel Artalejo (Luz), Ricardo Artalejo, grandchildren: Crystal Artalejo, David A. Artalejo, Adriana Artalejo-Goff (Garrett) and Andrea Artalejo and great-grandchildren: Isabella Artalejo and Agustin Goff and her cat Abby. She was preceded in death by her husband Francisco Artalejo.
Mom, together with Dad, you were our safe place. You were the flower of our home. We always knew there would be cake on our birthdays and cookies of all sorts at Christmas. Although by today’s standards it gets very little accolade, you made sure dinner was ready every night so that we could eat together as a family, even when you went back to working again. You taught us to pray, to work hard and to be humble. Although we know that you are with our Lord, together with Dad, you will be sorely missed by us all!
Visitation will be held on July 15, 2025 at 5:00 pm and Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Martin Central 3839 Montana Ave., El Paso, TX 79903. Funeral Mass will be held on July 16, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar Rd. El Paso TX 79925. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79907.
