It is with Deepest Sorrow to announce: Our Dearly Beloved Mom, Evangelina “Angie” Kramer, age 93; of El Paso, Texas passed away. Angie was born in Mexico, on Mothers Day. She was the daughter of Primitivo and Abigael Medrano (Spain/Italy Descendants). Angie’s parents had 5 girls and 2 boys.
Angies young life was Tragic: When Angie was 8 yrs old her mom died from childbirth. Angies Dad remarried and the siblings were split up, she was forced to live with strangers. When Angie was 15 yrs old, her Brother was shot and killed. When Angie was 17 her Dad died. Despite her misfortunes, Angie became the “PHOENIX“, she rose from the ashes. The Precious memories of her young life before tragedy, lived on in her Narratives and Heart. Angie would tell anyone who would listen, how her parents met when her Dad rode with Pancho Villa. Quite an interesting story…
In early 1950s Angie met, dated and later married Douglas Kramer (German/Irish Descendant), a Soldier assigned to the U.S. Army Air Defense Missile Command. Angie and Douglas Marriage produced one daughter: Susan, and three sons: David, William, Daniel. Angie’s life was never smooth sailing, but the “PHOENIX” was thriving. Angie embraced her role as a Career Army Wife and Mother. Angie worked hard Everyday for Everything and raised her children with the same values. Angie became a United States American (USA) Citizen. Angie truly personified the rock-solid core values of her generation; she embraced, defended, respected, valued, and advocated the USA Laws, Traditions, Customs, and Learned the English language. Angie and Douglas motto was “Life is what You make it, You are Not Owed anything, You Work Hard and Earn a decent living, Learn from Mistakes, and Thank God for what you have.
Angie was our Spanish Southern Belle, not a hair out of place, always dressed up, and gracious (but Do Not antagonize her). Douglas said Angie was his “Yellow Rose of Texas”, looks good, smells sweet, but watch out for those Thorns. If you talk to anyone who had the honors to be her friend they will tell you…;)
Angie was employed for 18 years at El Paso Independent School District (EPISD). She worked at various School Cafeterias as Temporary Chef, Head Chef and Assistant Manager. Angie favorite and final job was at Highland Park School cafeteria. Highland educated Handicap children. In addition to her responsibilities as Head Chef, Angie taught Handicap Children kitchen Hygiene, the children loved Angie. Upon leaving EPISD, she went on to work as a Volunteer for American Red Cross (ARC) at William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) 3rd floor Pharmacy. Angie devoted over 40 years of her life Volunteering for ARC and helping the Military Community.
Angie was a Devout Catholic and Military Wife for Life. Angie was a Lifetime Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary, Post 8550, Angie cared for her extended family. Angie was creative and had various hobbies: She loved to paint, Douglas would often say if he stood still long enough she would slap a coat of paint on him. Angie enjoyed traveling, dancing, singing, and the outdoors. Weekend family activities included trips to McKelligon Canyon to picnic and climb the mountains, or Ascarate Lake to play Baseball, watch the ducks and fish; or wash the old Station Wagon, make popcorn/Kool-aid and kids would pile into the old wagon to go to the Drive-in. Angies flower beds were beautiful and she enjoyed yard work, she was an avid crocheter, she would crochet gifts for friends and family. Angie was a great cook, leftovers turned into delicious meals. Angie enjoyed dressing up for Halloween, WOW her costumes were creative, as were the stories we heard.
