After the war, George returned to the states and began a career with the International Boundary and Water Commission initially as a surveyor and finally as Project Superintendent of the El Paso District. His career landed them in various locations in Texas including Alpine, Marfa, Del Rio, McAllen, and finally El Paso.
George retired in 1973 and began a new career of hobbies including woodworking, rock polishing, jewelry making, and travel. For over 40 years, George and Daisy traveled the US, wearing out three travel trailers in the process.
George was predeceased by his three siblings, his daughter-in-law Diane, and his son-in-law Winston. He is survived by his wife Daisy, his five children, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
