Gonzalo dedicated more than 33 years of his life to serving his country and his community. His career in public service began as an NBC trainer in the US Army, and as a police officer with the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where he proudly served and protected the university community. He later continued his commitment to service with the U.S. Border Patrol and, subsequently, with U.S. Customs and Border Protection where he spent years both as a trainer and in Supervisory roles. Throughout his many years of service, Gonzalo demonstrated courage, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others.
Gonzalo will be remembered for his strong sense of duty, and the pride he took in serving his country. His more than three decades of service stand as a lasting testament to the person he was and the difference he made in the lives of others.
He is survived by his brothers, Antonio Rascon, Edmundo Arvizu, and Tomas Arvizu Wesenberg, along with numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family, and colleagues and dear friends like Ivonne Colmenero, Jacqueline Esparza, Denise Anchondo, Richard Licon and Joe Cordova along with his fellow colleagues and the many people who had the privilege of knowing him.
Gonzalo’s legacy of service, strength, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Celebration of Life beginning at 7:00 pm at Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave. El Paso, Texas 79903. Graveside Service will be held Friday, August 28, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with military and agency honors.
