Hortencia Nieto Camacho, 67, of El Paso, Texas, passed away on October 7, 2026. Born in El Paso, Texas, on June 13, 1959, Hortencia carried the steady light of home within her—an enduring presence whose kindness and compassion shaped the everyday lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
In her earlier years, Hortencia graduated from high school and received her diploma, marking the beginning of a life defined not by loud declarations, but by thoughtful devotion to the people and places she held close.
Hortencia served her community through her work with Socorro Independent School District as a cross guard—an unassuming role that suited a woman so cherished for her gentle care and watchful heart. In the simple faithfulness of showing up, day after day, she offered something lasting: reassurance, warmth, and a sense that someone was always looking out for you.
Hortencia was married to Felix Camacho Jr., and together they built a life rooted in love and family. She is survived by her husband, Felix Camacho Jr.; her children, Esmeralda Ines Perez and Lorenzo B. Camacho; her grandchildren, Maximus Mauricio Perez, Aria Selena Perez, Marco Antonio Perez, and Angelina Maribel Perez; and her siblings, Mauricio Nieto Jr., Fernando Nieto, Ceci Duenas, Cristi Nieto, Dora Camacho, and Lydia Aguirre.
Those who knew Hortencia knew the language of her love: a meal made with care, hands busy with arts and crafts, time set aside—always—for family. She found joy in the simple richness of being together, and she treasured the companionship of her pets Paco, Lola, and Gizmo, while holding close the memories of the moments she had with Coco. In these quiet rituals and daily affections, her thoughtful spirit was felt most clearly, and her kind-heartedness became a legacy.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Evergreen East, 12400 East Montana, El Paso, TX 79938, on October 16, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Catholic Service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Evergreen East, 12400 East Montana, El Paso, TX 79938, on October 16, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Though Hortencia is no longer with us in the way we wish she could be, what she gave—steadfast love, compassionate presence, and devotion expressed through countless thoughtful acts—remains, like a familiar song carried softly through the heart.
