Howard Wayne Sloan was born in a small town in Kentucky on February 6, 1941, and passed away on July 5, 2023 in El Paso, TX. He is preceded in death by his sons, Howard ("Howie") Wayne Sloan Jr., and Franklin David Sloan. He is survived by his wife, Maria DeJesus Sloan, and his daughters, Mary Elizabeth Falvey-Prentice, and Emily Marie Sloan, 3 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Howard retired as a decorated 1SG from the U.S. Army after completing over 25 years of active duty service during the Vietnam and Korean Wars. During his time in service, he was awarded a Purple Heart among many other commendations for his valor and sacrifice. Following his military retirement, he went on to pursue a career working for Sun Metro in El Paso, TX for 15 years, retiring in 2005. Howard lived a very full life and left a lasting, positive impact on his family and community. He will be deeply missed every day. May he rest in peace.
