Our beautiful, loving mother and grandmother, Isela Heredia Garcia, passed away peacefully on April 15th, 2025, after seven months of home hospice care. She was born July 24th, 1936, to Carlos and Beatriz Heredia and raised in El Paso. Isela was a Bowie High School graduate, Our Lady of the Light parishioner, and a secretary for Fort Bliss and Bowie High School, retiring from both. Isela loved caring for her grandchildren, attending family gatherings at Moe’s and Red Lobster, going to the dollar movies, and cooking for her family. She loved attending her grandchildren’s school events and piano recitals. She was an avid attendee, for many years at Our Lady’s Youth Center prayer meetings with her mom, sisters, and sister-in-law, Pochi always followed with Chico's Tacos. At home she enjoyed reading the bible and daily newspaper, eating corn flakes, menudo, and tacos, and watching the news, 60 minutes, and ice skating.
Isela taught us great strength and faith during the 20-year cancer journeys of both her husband and her daughter. Through these hardships, her faith in God and in His plan never wavered. We were blessed to care for our mom for 16 years after Dad’s passing and especially during her home hospice care supported by neighbor Margie and care provider, Velia. We will miss you mom, but we know that you are no longer suffering, and you are now in eternal rest with our Lord.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Rodolfo, daughter Cecilia, siblings Armando, Carlos, Ernesto, Carmen, and Alicia, and extended family. She is survived by sons Rodolfo (Virginia), Victor, and grandchildren Christian, Marissa, Eric (Yeji).
Special thanks to Dr. Alejandro Ovalle, Vilma Bohlman FNP-BC, TLC Hospice (Frank, Ruth, Noe) and prayers for Isela and our family from Our Lady of the Light and St. Matthew’s church communities.
