Ivan E. Cordero was born in Juarez, Mexico on October 2, 1976. On March 5, 2026, we lost our loved one, our friend, our brother, a voice, and a musician. Ivan shed his mortal coil and answered the call of death. Known, respected and loved by many, Ivan leaves behind deep rooted, long standing friendships, a legacy of musical vision and innovation, and a wealth of noisy inspiration for those lucky enough to TRULY listen. When not playing music, Ivan was a grill master, an avid reader, a techie, a nerd, he loved horror movies, The Predator and Alien movies, was a Star Wars nerd (ONLY the first six). He had a dark sense of humor and he knew how to make you laugh. Ivan helped raise his five siblings, loved watching them succeed, and grow up from being brats to semi-functional adults. Ivan liked walking on the untrodden paths, especially those surrounded by nature, and loved autumn and winter seasons as it allowed him to transform and shed like the leaves that fall to form new beginnings. He loved reptiles, his cats, especially his favorite Peewee and his snake of 29 years Chavela, whom he now joins on the next plane.
Ivan is survived by his ride-or-die, wife of 27 years, Nancy Alcala, mother Maria Ines Cordero Barron, mother-in-law Maria Teresa Rodriguez, Liliana Cordero Esquivel/Ruben Esquivel, Evelia/Dustin Lockhart (Angie/Kristof/Dominik), Sandra Cordero (Saidee/Jayven), Ernesto Cordero/Martha Priego Cordero (Aaron/Scarlet/Violet), Anahi Rodriguez/Ray "Chicharron" Peregrino, Gabriel Alcala/Elizabeth Zamarripa/(Liliana/Rafael/Lucia/Lil' G), Manuel Sr/Maria Luisa Alcala and Family, Tony Gutierrez, Aracely Gaytan (Jada/Ayla), Chris Perez, Rubén Romo and Blanca Acosta, Laura and Carlos Meow, and all of the crazy heads in the community who loved him, respected him and learned from him through his music in the metal community.
Celebration of Death will be taking place on Friday the 13th (March 13, 2026) at 6pm at Funeraria del Angel Martin Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, Texas 79903.
