Jaime Ortiz

Jaime Ortiz age 23, Beloved son, grandson, nephew and cousin went to be with his Heavenly Father on February 7, 2011 after a 13-month battle with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Jaime was born on October 10, 1987 to Jaime Ortiz and Martha E. Mendoza and was an only child. He attended Coldwell Elementary, Cordova Middle and graduated from Austin High School in 2006. He pursued and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Automotive/Diesel and Industrial Technology from Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix, AZ in 2008. Jaime dreamed of one day opening a Hot-Rod Shop in El Paso, and his family was very proud and supportive of his goals.

Jaime was a gentle, humble and loving soul. He was our “gentle giant” and his mom and dad’s pride and joy. As the first maternal grandchild and great-grandchild, he was Grandma and Papo’s constant companion and enjoyed going to work at the family business with his grandfather, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Efrain and Martha Ortiz and uncle Benjamin Ortiz. Jaime is survived by his parents; maternal grandparents, Samuel and Maria J. Mendoza; maternal great-grandparents Martin and Maria Felix Lechuga; uncles, Samuel Mendoza, Fernie Mendoza, Efrain Ortiz, Raul Ortiz, Sergio Ortiz; aunts, Araceli Mendoza, Sandra Gardea, Patricia Mendoza, Maria Ortiz Lovett; and by numerous loving cousins and friends.

We would like to thank the caring nursing staff at 4 North Oncology at Providence Memorial Hospital and Dr. Panagiotis Valilis and his staff at the at El Paso Cancer Treatment Center-West.

Funeral Services will be held at Del Angel Martin Funeral Home-Central on Thursday February 10, 2011 with Visitation from 5-9 p.m. and Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday February 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Jaime will be missed greatly and even though he has left a hole in our hearts, he will forever live in our thoughts and prayers. We love you Chango!
