April 26,1957-July 27,2021
El Paso, Texas- On Tuesday, July 27th, 2021, James McNeil Routledge III went to be with his wife Anna Routledge and mother Carolyn Jean Routledge Simmons in Heaven. James, better known to most of his friends and family as Big Neil, was born April 26th, 1957. A 1976 graduate of W.H. Burges High School, he loved camping, fishing, and playing board games that would last until the early hours of the next morning. He loved football and was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed dressing up every Christmas in his Santa Claus suit. He drove around El Paso in his white pick up truck handing out candy canes. When Big Neil retired, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of creating stained glass art. Not very many people knew this about him, but he was a talented artist who brought his drawings to life in stained glass. He shared this passion with many at Ardovino’s Farmers market every Saturday, where he would set up a kiosk to sell his beautiful stained glass creations.
Neil is survived by his children: James McNeil IV and Bonnie Routledge, Troy Edward Routledge, Elizabeth Jean and Alexander Freeman, and Joe Richard Williams III. His brothers: Richard Bryan Routledge and Kirk Stewart Routledge. His grandchildren: Ian Troy Routledge, Alexander David Freeman, Naomi Jean Freeman, Donovan Brian Freeman, Madison Taylor Routledge, Andrew Neil Routledge, Adrianne Janai Routledge, Malarie Joanna Williams, and Bo McNeil Williams. Great grandchild Cataleya Routledge. His uncle Stan Hall, brother-in-law Jerry Carlson and sister-in-law Susan Carlson.
Visitation services will be held Monday, August 9th, 2021, from 4pm-6pm, at Funeraria Del Angel, Evergreen East 12400 E. Montana 79938.
