It is with great and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and patriot, Javier Sergio Frutos, who passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at the age of 90.
Born on September 19, 1934, to Javier and Santos Frutos, Javier lived a life defined by service, devotion, and unwavering love for his family and country. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959, traveling the world and embracing the values of duty and honor. He later joined the Navy Reserves, retiring with distinction at the rank of Chief Petty Officers.
After his military career, Javier continued his legacy of service through a 30-year career with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), where he was known for his dedication, reliability, and exemplary work ethic.
For 66 years, he shared an enduring and joyful marriage with the love of his life, Margarita, with whom he built a beautiful family. He is survived by his four loving children: Javier(Pamela),Norma,Susan,and Barbara (Bryant).
He also leaves behind five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one treasured great-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Javier and Santos Frutos, his brother Fernando Frutos, and his beloved granddaughter Crystal Lopez, whose memory he carried close to his heart.
A proud graduate of Bowie High School, Class of 1953, Javier showed early on that hard work and discipline would be the hallmarks of his life. He remained a lifelong learner, a committed family man, and a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan—never missing a game and always cheering with passion.
Known for his quiet strength, generosity, and deep-rooted values, Javier was the foundation of his family. His legacy lives on in the generations he inspired and the many lives he touched through kindness and example.
Private Services will be held, at Fort Bliss Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Javier Frutos’ name to The Disabled Veterans National Foundation (DVNF).
