Jorge C. Valdez
April 24, 1949 – April 11, 2019
Jorge was born in Jalisco, Mexico on April 24, 1949. In 1973 in a small church in Pennsylvania, Jorge accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and from that point on the direction of his life changed. In 1975, shortly after meeting Jesus, he moved his family to El Paso, Texas to attend Latin American Bible Institute to study the Word of God. Pastor Jorge brought his family to Abundant Living Faith Center where a friendship would be established with the Nieman Family that has spanned over 40 years. Jorge was on staff at ALFC for over 25 years and also served as a senior pastor at Zoe Ministries almost 10 years. Pastor Jorge loved serving and helping people. He led many people through teaching, missions, spanish translation among many other things. He was a stranger to no one, and immediately created an engaging place for people to understand the truth of Jesus.
Jorge is survived by his wife, Marissa Valdez of 25 years, his children son-Phil Valdez, his wife Valerie and their son Gavin, son -Jorge Valdez, his wife Lily and their 3 daughters Jaydn, Vienna, and Capri, daughter- Katie Mendoza, her husband Jonathan, and their 4 children, Ellah, Justice, Malachi and new baby boy arriving May 2019, son- Daniel McDonald and his wife Beatriz, and his youngest son- Jireh Paul. I had the pleasure of meeting Pastor Jorge over 45 years ago. He allowed me the privilege of serving our Lord and he as a member of Zoe, the church our Lord gave him as well as helping with praise and worship with his sons at Zoe.
I’ve had the blessing of seeing and speaking with Jorge over the years and God’s calling him home has been a shock to my senses and heart. His dry humor and quick word of hope will never escape me.
All the normal words at this time escape me as I see just how fragile our life is.
Jorge’s family will miss him deeply, those who heard his words of strength and wisdom will remember and those who knew him well will truly feel the hole in their hearts with his departure. I can only say this: Jesus took a tried and true believer home - not a perfect man but a man after the heart of Jesus. His spirit is now with His Creator in the peace promised. Amen
