Jose R. Fernandez

Jose R. Fernandez passed away peacefully on Thursday February 11, 2016. He was born on April 16, 1924 to Marcial and Maria Fernandez. He was raised with 4 siblings Arturo Fernandez, Esther Payan, Soledad Martinez, and only surviving sister Eva Valdez. During his early years, he ventured to California where he held a job at a fish cannery and at times would work at a family auto mechanic shop. In El Paso, he met his loving wife Anita. They were married for 70 years until her passing in Sept., 2015. He started his career with El Paso City Lines as a "Trolley" and bus operator. After his early retirement, he remained a very busy man as a jack of all traits ( auto mechanic, welder, ornamental iron just to mention a few). Jose and Anita raised 5 sons Joe Fernandez (Olga), Armando Fernandez, David Fernandez (Yolie), Alfred Fernandez (Rocio), and Arthur Fernandez (Michele). A proud grandfather to 12 and great grandfather to 16. He will be greatly missed as he continues his venture in heaven with his wife Anita.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Martin Funeral Home Central, 3839 Montana Ave., with the Vigil at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be Monday at 9:00 A.M. at Santo Nino de Atocha Catholic Church. Interment at Evergreen East Cemetery. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home Central.
