Jose O Munoz

Jose O. Muńoz was called to heaven on Sunday January 3rd. He was a beloved husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather. Jose was born In Encarnacion de Diaz, Jalisco (aka “La Chona”) on September 10, 1925. He was one of 4 children (Ramona, Refugio and Vicente) born to Dionisio Muńoz and Cripina Ochoa. He lived a majority of his life in El Paso, TX and dedicated himself to a profession in masonry. His first marriage to Mrs. Juana Padilla blessed him with 8 children (Ana M. Aguirre, Benjamin Muńoz, Blanca E. Muńoz, Irene Muńoz, Jose J. Muńoz, Josefina Muńoz, Jorge A. Muńoz, and Maria Arcelia Muńoz Padilla). He later divorced and was remarried to Herlinda Mendez who was widowed and had 2 children (Luis Jaime Mendez and Luis Alonzo Mendez). Jose was preceded in death by both Juanita and Herlinda. Jose, in his later years, enjoyed staying active through numerous recreational activities that included taking daily walks, doing handy work around the house, and playing with his dogs. He was devoted to his Christian faith for many years which included daily bible reading, listening to Christian music, and engaging in prayer. He also attended both TLC and La Victoria Senior Day Care Centers where he enjoyed daily interactions with others in addition to numerous activities that included Bingo games. We want to thank the staffs of both centers for the care they offered him for many years. A final thanks is also given to Ms. Josefina Garcia and Ms. Julieta Alvarado who assisted with his home care as his health declined and especially this past year amidst the pandemic. Due to COVID-19 his services will be private and only for immediate family. Jose O. Muńoz fue llamado al cielo el domingo 4 de enero. Fue un amado esposo, padre, padrastro y abuelo. José nació en Encarnación de Díaz, Jalisco (alias “La Chona”) el 10 de septiembre de 1925. Fue uno de los 4 hijos (Ramona, Refugio y Vicente) de Dionisio Muñoz y Cripina Ochoa. Vivió la mayor parte de su vida en El Paso, TX y se dedicó a una profesión en Albañilería. Su primer matrimonio con la Sra. Juana Padilla lo bendijo con 8 hijos (Ana M. Aguirre, Benjamin Muńoz, Blanca E. Muńoz, Irene Muńoz, Jose J. Muńoz, Josefina Muńoz, Jorge A. Muńoz y Maria Arcelia Muńoz Padilla). Más tarde se divorció y se volvió a casar con Herlinda Méndez, quien tuvo 3 hijos propios (Luis A. Méndez, L. Jaime Méndez y María del Carmen Pérez). José fue precedido en la muerte tanto por Juanita como por Herlinda. José, en sus últimos años, disfrutó de mantenerse activo a través de numerosas actividades recreativas que incluían caminatas diarias, hacer trabajos manuales en la casa y jugar con sus perros. Se dedicó a su fe cristiana durante muchos años, que incluyó la lectura diaria de la Biblia, escuchar música cristiana y orar. También asistió a las guarderías infantiles de TLC y La Victoria, donde disfrutó de interacciones diarias con otras personas, además de numerosas actividades que incluían juegos de bingo. Queremos agradecer al personal de ambos centros la atención que le brindaron durante muchos años. También se da un agradecimiento final a la Sra. Josefina García y la Sra. Julieta Alvarado, quienes ayudaron con su cuidado en el hogar cuando su salud empeoró y especialmente el año pasado en medio de la pandemia. Pepe was a quiet, gentle man who loved God. I remember him going to his room to pray, not silently but aloud, praising God n praying for his loved ones. Thank you Pepe for being so good to my mom n brothers. May the angels guard your eternal sleep until God raises you again. RIP
