I met Officer McDonough @ the park on Pebble Hills behind the Esperanza Moreno library. He would take his little girl and I had mine and the girls played together a few times. This was a man who loved his job and his family. He was kind and I could tell a great father. This is a true loss. Please accept my condolences.

I dont have words to express myself right at this moment. I read all 35 pages on this Guest book, witnessed 700 vehicles five miles long all there to say good bye to you.. I can only say what I said to you that horrible  night... THANK YOU KARL...

Officer McDonough served the City of El Paso with honor and integrity. He is another Hero who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect his community. With all due respect, please accept our heartfelt sympathy.  Our love and prayers are with you.

What can I say about Karl, professional, courteous, kind, helpful, joyful, and I could go on for days..  In my 4+ years that I knew him there was never a time where he didn't have a smile on his face.  It was an pleasure working with you and an honor just to be your friend.  R.I.P. Karl. Although I just met you two weeks ago, I was deeply impressed by your friendly, honest and trusting nature.  You talked about your family, your broken hot water heater and your job.  You said that you loved your life and were living your dream.  Rest in peace knowing that your life had meaning and substance and was filled with the wonderful things that we all wish for ourselves.  You will be missed.

 He was a good friend and a great co-worker. Our days @ Epson were fun and he always held himself in a professional manner. He will be missed. He is in a better place and my prayers are with his family. Love you bro.

A career in Law enforcement (like the Military) is a job for the elite or the strong at heart if you will. The Police Department is often critiqued (just like the question “Why are we at war” for the military) for upholding the very laws that our founding fathers developed for this great country.  As Americans are covered with this security blanket, we forget that it is because of these brave men and women that we can sleep at night and voice our opinions. Our fathers, husbands, sons, and daughters put their lives on the line every day so that our great country, cities and neighborhoods are safe.  It is without a doubt a very tough and demanding job for a Police Officer, as well as their family. These careers are not just for anyone and those who choose this path I say “BRAVO!” Let us not forget to extend a kind hand shake or simple Thank You to a Police Officer (or Veteran); and with this I would like to take this time to say a heart felt “THANK YOU”. 
“Thank You” Officer McDonough for keeping us safe. 
“Thank You” for doing a great job.
“Thank You” for serving our country.

I personally did not know Officer MCDONOUGH in life but I had the opportunity to be at the site where his last living moments were at. Officer Karl McDonough may have passed me by on the street in his car at one time or another.  Like all police officers who take the oath to protect the public and city government, they have a very demanding job and I thank them for all they do.
