Dr. Lois Olson Elias February 1936 – April 2011
Lois was a long-time resident of El Paso and passed away peacefully at Del Sol hospital with family by her side. She was born in Sand Hills, Mississippi and raised in Tallahassee, Florida graduating from Leon High School and attending Florida State University.
She was a charter faculty member of the El Paso Community College contributing 33 years to the college and to the educational community of El Paso. Lois founded Management Dynamics, a consulting service for many large corporations and the Maquiladora Trade Association. She was also a founding member of the El Paso Friends of Jazz.
Lois was one of four children born to the late Thomas and Myrtle Gibson and was the beloved widow of Harry M. Elias. She will forever be remembered by her son, Thomas Olson and wife Annamarie, and her Granddaughter Courtney Olson. She will also be fondly remembered by her step children, Harry Elias Jr., Sandra Walker, and their children and grandchildren. She is survived by sister Gail Faupel and brother Donald Gibson, along with countless other family and friends whom were blessed to know her. Lois loved travelling abroad, listing to music, laughing, being with her family, having fun with friends and teaching college students.
She held Bachelors and Masters Degrees from UTEP and a Doctorate of Education from Nova University. She retired as a professor from EPCC in 2004.
Friends and family are invited to attend visitation and rosary on Monday, April 4th, 2011, from 5-9pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1460 George Dieter Dr, El Paso, TX 79936. Funeral services will be held at St. Pius X church, 1050 N Clark Dr, El Paso, TX 79905 at 9:15am on Tuesday, April 5th.Interment to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
