Lucila R. Lopez, our beloved mother and grandmother 83, died peacefully on April 18, 2026, in El Paso, Texas. She was born to the late Sara and Pascual Reyes on December 28,1942 in El Paso, Texas. Lucila was married to Antonio Lopez.
She had two children, Patricia Ann de la Cruz, and Robert Lopez. She had 1 grandchild, Aaron Lopez.
Lucila was a Catholic. She was a gifted seamstress; she poured her heart into every stitch. She especially loved creating pillows, dolls and handmade treasures for children, finding joy in the smiles her work brought to their faces. She made sure her daughter Patsy as a child always had clothes for her dolls and barbie. She also had a large clientele of teachers, friends and neighbors who sought sewing skills and her wisdom. She loved to read the newspaper from one end to another and watch the daily news.
Her other passion was taking care of children and having them around. She started by taking care of her beloved Becky at the age of 6 weeks. She loved her like a granddaughter and to her last days had a relationship with her and her children. Her grandson Aaron was her greatest joy, and she always spent time with him and they spoke daily. She also took care of Nicky, Sara, Linda and others.
She also had a lifelong affection for lighthouses-their calm strength, their steady glow. She also had a deep appreciation for the simplicity and craftsmanship of the Amish community.
She loved her alma Matta Bowie high school and their reunions. She was a selfless woman who gave all she had to the people she loved. She touched countless lives through her kindness, creativity and her unwavering devotion to others and her family.
She is survived by her children Patricia (Jaime) de la Cruz and Robert (Veronica) Lopez and grandson Aaron.
She was preceded in death by her parents Sara and Pascual Reyes, brother Julian Reyes and sisters Delia Garcia and Eva Reyes.
