OBITUARY

Lucio Neftali Cano

February 11, 1941June 14, 2011

Lucio Neftali Cano passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of June 14th, 2011 surrounded by his wife of 47 years Ofelia Cano and all three of his children; Neftali Cano II, Rebecca Cano-Salcido and Gabriel Cano. His sister Narah Cano as well as extended children Mary Cano and Smiley Salcido also remain. Mr. Cano was born February 11th, 1941 and lived a full and family filled life for 70 years. Mr. Cano fought a courageous battle with cancer for 10 years, but waited for his beloved wife and all three of his children to be at his bedside when he decided to pass in peace to the Lord.

Mr. Cano graduated with honors from Cathedral HS and received his Degree in Business from the University of Texas at El Paso. Mr. Cano also served with the United States Air Force and served within the intelligence community as a Chinese linguist after receiving intensive language training from Yale University. Mr. Cano was also proud of his work in the private sector with both Farah manufacturing in El Paso, Tx. and Pro-Med pharmaceuticals in Santa Fe Springs, Ca. After returning from California Mr. Cano started his own company Los Alamos Metal Fabrication in 1980 and finally retired from business in 1999. His proudest accomplishments were his grandchildren! Marcus, Cayla, Sarah, Dante, Natasia and Jaylene. They brought him the greatest joy in life and he was affectionately known only as their “Pa”! The Cano family would like to thank Hospice for their difficult, but very important work and a special thanks to Dr. Teresa Reed and her wonderful staff without whose personal attention during this difficult time would have been made much more unbearable. In lieu of flowers we would like you to consider making a small donation to the American Cancer Foundation at www.cancer.org. Visitation will be held 5pm to 9pm Monday June 20, 2011 at Funeraria Del Angel Martin Central with a 7pm vigil. Funeral Mass will be held 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.

Pa, I loved the story of how you left this world only to enter another with a grin on your face. You Know we all will dearly miss you but you will always and forever be in our hearts & thoughts. I will never forget all those times you would help me with homework and even picking me up from school. You really were the most amazing grandpa and a very protective one at that. I still miss having your world famous pancakes but dad's are almost as good as yours. Well my beloved pa I can't explain how much I really do miss you but I know your watching over me now and that helps . I Love you Pa ! - Sarah number 2 sweetheart

Mr. Cano,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USAF during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow servicemen stood ready to defend our Country. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

To my family in El Paso, I send my sincerest condolences. My pain and sadness in my heart can not compare to yours. I am just grateful for the wonderful memories with Uncle Talin. The conversations we shared and the many laughs we had together. He was truly a great uncle. I love and miss you all. All of you are in my prayers
