He was married to Aurora Lazarin Alvarado in 1965, and together they shared 61 years.
Manuel lived a full life, surrounded by family and friends. He maintained an active social life, never too busy to shoot the breeze with someone. He loved doing crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, and watching the Green Bay Packers play. He was devoted to his faith, and diligently prayed the rosary every night before going to bed. He had a robust and interesting career. He served in the US Army overseas, in Germany. He was a foreman at Asarco and a real estate agent for many years. After his retirement, he chose to work at Wal-Mart in the paint department for many years before finally retiring fully.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Angel Alvarado. He is survived by his beloved wife, Aurora; their children Michael Alvarado (Rosanna), Amy Alvarado Bender (Chad), and Krista Alvarado (Graham); and their eight grandchildren; his brothers, Louie Alvarado, Carlos Alvarado (Irene) and Oscar Alvarado; and his sisters, Martha Maldonado and Estella Rodela (David).
Visitation will be held Monday, August 3, 2026 from 5:00 pm- 9:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel central, 3839 Montana Ave. El Paso, Texas 79903. Funeral mass will be Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 11:30 am at Saint Jude Catholic Church 4006 Hidden Way, El Paso, Texas 79922 with committal to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave. El Paso, Texas 79906.
