Manny was always the first one to say good morning to me at Hillside. He was such a hard worker and so dedicated to our school! He is missed!

Mr. Caballero was a very smart man who shared so much El Paso history with me. He was always buying books and magazines, many times he had connections with the people being featured in the Business Magazines as a result of his earlier business matters. His Hillside Family will miss him. Rest in peace Mr. Caballero and thank you for your service to our school community. Thank you Caballero Family for sharing him with us. God Bless.

Most of the time Manny and I talked about work.  The conversations were about what types of work were available in the El Paso area, even though he was already retirement age.  He wanted to be an active member of his community and that he was.  He was devoted to his volunteer job in his neighborhood and was always a gentleman with everyone.  He made suggestions about which  books to read, as he was an avid reader.  I will miss seeing him looking dapper with people to see, things to do and places to go.  I will miss him.

Mr. Caballero will be greatly missed. I remember our conversations about UTEP. A very smart man who many times shared his life experiences with me. He was devoted to the volunteer work he did at Hillside School. His goal was to always keep the school clean and the recycling where it should be. I will always keep him in my heart.

I will miss  his call at 8 in the morning to remind me not to forget to pick him up on  Friday at 8:50 to go run his errands. He introduced me to all the people he had his business with wait staff, tellers, secretaries and counter staff.  Whether it was Bowie Bakery or bank tellers they all treated him with kindness and respect. I will really miss our coffee and chocolate cake at Starbucks but most of all his smile! Manny didn’t smile a lot but when he did his beautiful eyes danced and I felt like  I’d just won the lottery. He was one of my teachers  and his classes were on patience, acceptance and tolerance. I will miss him.
