

Margarita Guereque Paternoster, 75, passed away Sept. 21, 2021 in El Paso. A lifelong resident, she was born to Enrique Guereque and Dolores Ramirez on July 11, 1946. She graduated from Austin High school and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Margie is survived by her brother, Henry Guereque, of Australia and two stepchildren, Laurie Paternoster of Ecuador and Steve Paternoster of Albuquerque, NM. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, one great grandson and numerous cousins. Her cousin, Carmen Haney, was her primary caretaker in recent years.
Margie was predeceased by her husband, James Paternoster, Sr., her parents, brother Roberto Guereque and stepson James Paternoster, Jr.
Margie retired from the El Paso Independent School District where she was a job coach and aide for special education students. She had a passion for teaching and worked with children of all ages and backgrounds. She was proficient in sign language and had additional vocational training in computer skills and engineering. Her love of sports was legendary, particularly involving UTEP and the Cowboys.
Graveside services will be Friday, October 29, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Blvd. El Paso, TX. 79906.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to El Paso Humane Society or UTEP athletics.
