With profound love and deep sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved mother and devoted wife to our father, Maria Carmen Aguirre, 80 yrs. She left this world peacefully on January 23, 2026 surrounded by family and loved ones.
Born in Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Carmen, known to many as Guera, was raised in Mexico. She eventually moved to Juarez and later to El Paso. She later became a U.S. citizen alongside her loving husband, Polo. She raised 5 children, maintained a home and was a dedicated employee for Levi's Strauss for 35 yrs.
Carmen was known for her famous sopita and delicious rice. She had a heart of gold and a caring and loving nature. She felt everyone's heartache and always offered a helping hand. Near or far, she loved everyone. She enjoyed playing scratch tickets and trips to the casino. She was very skilled in sewing and knitting. She enjoyed listening to and watching Pedro Infante movies. Her greatest joy was her family. Every moment spent with her family and loved ones meant the world to her. FAMILY was everything to her.
Carmen is survived by her dedicated and devoted husband of 58 yrs, Leopoldo Aguirre. Her much loved children Sarah Aguirre, Norma Alicia Aguirre, Leo Aguirre, Sandra Corina Aguirre and Ricardo "Andy" Aguirre. Her beloved grandchildren Rio Danielle Salazar, Andi Monet Salazar, Ryan Nathan Aguirre, Aileen Marie Aguirre, Samantha Rayne Molinar, Sienna Alexandra Medina and Sohryn Francesca Gallegos. Her siblings include Josefina Rivera, Edmundo Vega, Elsa Vega, Irma Vega Cisneros and Rebecca Vega. A heartfelt mention to her sisters in Christ, Maria de Jesus "Gloria" Medina and Marta Hernandez Longoria.
Carmen is preceded in death by her parents Jose Gonzalez and Maria Sara Vega. Her sister Juanita Rojas and her brothers Victor "Vicks" Vega and Ricardo "Kookie" Vega.
Visitation will be Monday, February 2, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm with a rosary at 6:00 pm at Funeraria Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave. El Paso, TX 79903. A mass in her honor and memory will be on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 9:30 am at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church, 4700 Delta Dr. El Paso, TX 79905. Interment will follow at Evergreen East Cemetery, 12400 East Montana Ave, El Paso, TX, 79938.
Her kind, loving and gentle spirit will be missed beyond measure. And her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched. Her UNCONDITIONAL love for her husband and children will forever be with them.
