An amazing lady of courage, strength, and dignity, passed away Monday, September 16th, 2024. Maria del Patrocinio Federico, 92, was born on November 08, 1931, in San Juan de Guadalupe Durango Mexico to Amelia Hernandez Romero and Alfonso Hernandez. Maria began her life as one of several daughters and one brother to the only bread baker of her birth town. Maria learned to bake most of the bread her father supplied by the family business, one of many skills she brought with her throughout life. Against all odds, at 22 years of age and the first of her family, Maria moved to El Paso on her own and obtained her American citizenship through hard work. She was extremely proud of her endeavor. Maria quickly established herself as a sou and master chef in many restaurants here in El Paso, Of the well-known restaurants in El Paso included Leo’s, Heinz, Swanky Franky, and Panchos as well as the family of a prominent El Paso banker. It was at one of these restaurants where she met her lifelong husband, Guillermo Federico. Both Mr. and Mrs. Federico dedicated their lives to their careers in the meal service industry and to their family. Maria was a great mother, role model and best friend to her family and was a great feminist beyond her years. Maria possessed a heart capable of immense love and was extremely giving of herself. She also possessed a great sense of humor, always making funny comments and laughing at funny situations.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Guillermo Federico, Alejandrina Hernandez Romero, Carlota Hernandez Romero, Maria Concepcion Hernandez Romero, Maria Rosa Hernandez Romero.
