Maria Romelia H. Contreras passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026. She was a native El Pasoan and a member of the Catholic Church. Mrs. Contreras retired after 25 years of service with the Ysleta Independent School District, the last 17 years as a school cafeteria manager.
Survived by husband Antonio Contreras, two sons, David and Eddie Contreras. Grandchildren Danielle, Amanda, Edward, and Ryan Contreras, and their wives, Diana and Samantha Contreras. Three great grandsons, Matthew J. Cervantes, Santiago A. Ramirez, Elijah Nungaray-Contreras, and nephew Dennis Woo. Preceded in death by parents Jose and Maria Holguín, sisters Josefina Moya, Connie Woo, and niece Elizabeth Lara.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 27, from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79903. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, April 28, at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 602 S Oregon St, El Paso, TX 79901—Pallbearers: family members. Entombment will be at 11:00 am at the Evergreen Alameda Mausoleum, 4301 Alameda Ave, El Paso, TX 79905 — arrangements by Funeraria Del Angel Central.
