Mark B. Lehrer

Mark Benjamin Lehrer, 74, passed away Friday, November 4th. He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Shirley Lehrer. Mark was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 15, 1942. His early childhood years were spent at Gould Farm in Monterey, MA, and Great Barrington, MA. He had a profound attachment to Gould Farm, a community in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts. He attended high school in Ellenville, NY. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Tampa University and his Master’s from the University of South Florida. Upon graduation at the age of 24, Mark taught at King High School in Tampa, FL. Eventually he decided to join the corporate world and started working for GTE Directories Corporation. Mark loved traveling and throughout his career he traveled to Paris, London, Rio de Janeiro, Monte Carlo, Brussels, Thailand, China, and many other places. He retired in Las Cruces, NM. In 2004 Mark met the love of his life, Elsa, and relocated to El Paso. His first passion was baseball and was a die-hard Red Sox Fan. His second passion was teaching. His illness prevented him from being a full time teacher but was happy to have been able to substitute for several years. He was especially fond of Brown Middle School. He taught with discipline and humor and the students loved and respected him. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Mark is survived by his loving and caring wife, Elsa; his cousins, Matthew Foreman and Pamela Foreman He was a gentle and devoted husband and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, November 19, 2016, with a Memorial Service at 3:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home Central, 3839 Montana Ave. Arrangements under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel Martin Central, El Paso, TX.
