

Modesta Chavira, 77, peacefully returned to God on Sunday, February 17th, 2013 in El Paso, Texas with her beloved family by her side. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that touched the lives of everyone around her.
Modesta was a seamstress for Top Notch/Levi Strauss and Co. for over 30 years. She was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Modesta, “Moms” was an amazing woman, always offering love, care and outstanding cuisine to anyone suffering from a lonely heart or empty stomach. Her culinary skills were short of legendary. Family and friends were the center and love of her life and provided her great joy and happiness, particularly in seeing the growth of her three sons and their children. She was loved by many and will be missed by many more.
Modesta is survived by her husband of 56 years, Raul Chavira whom she treasured, her sister Eduvijez Vasquez and three brothers, Carlos Juarez, Blas Juarez and Gonzalo Juarez. She is also survived by her three sons and their spouses: Raul G. and Gabriela Chavira, Fernando and Cristina Chavira and Manuel and Teresa Chavira, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Visitations will be held on Wednesday, February 20th, 2013 from 5-9pm with a vigil Service at 6:30 pm at Martin Funeral Home Central 3839 Montana Ave. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 12:45 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery 2:00 pm.
