

Myrna Isela Salgado Gardea, age 61, passed away on March 5, 2026, at Providence East Campus in El Paso, Texas. She was born on February 16, 1965, in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico. Myrna was born to Maria Elena Gardea, who preceded her in death. She was later lovingly adopted and raised by Juana and Simon Gardea. She grew up in Stockton, California, before later making her home in El Paso, Texas. Myrna dedicated more than 25 years of service to the University of Texas at El Paso, where she worked in several departments throughout her career, including the Enterprise Computing Department. Her final position at the university was Enterprise BI Specialist. Outside of work, Myrna enjoyed watching football and was a loyal fan of the San Francisco 49ers. She also loved animals and enjoyed the companionship of dogs and cats. Myrna was known for her strength, determination, and hardworking spirit. She approached life with dedication and perseverance and inspired those around her with her resilience. Above all, she was a loving mother who encouraged her daughter to believe in herself and reminded her that she could achieve anything. She loved butterflies, and her favorite word was “believe,” a reflection of the hope and positivity she carried throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her biological mother Maria Elena Gardea, her adoptive father Simon Gardea, her brother Carlos Ramon Gardea, and Willie Salgado, who passed away in July 2025. She is survived by Juana Gardea, and her daughter, Samantha Salgado.
All services will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave. El Paso, Texas 79903.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a vigil at 6:30 p.m.; scripture service will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.; interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave. El Paso, Texas 79906.
Myrna will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and unwavering belief in the people she loved.
