Oscar Acosta, age 78, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, went to be with our Heavenly Father on November 22, 2025. A lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas, Oscar lived a life defined by love, service, loyalty, and a deep dedication to his family and community.
Born and raised in El Paso, Oscar proudly graduated from Bowie High School, Class of 1966. Shortly after, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. As a Vietnam Veteran, he carried the strength, discipline, and resilience of a Marine throughout his life, traits that shaped the man so many admired.
Upon returning home, Oscar continued to pursue growth and education, earning his Associate’s Degree from El Paso Community College. He went on to shape countless young drivers as a Driver’s Education Instructor at EPCC, a position he held for 20 years. His work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate Pest Away Pest Control for 15 years.
Those who knew Oscar will remember his love of telling jokes, competitive spirit, and remarkable talent at the pool table and Texas Hold ’Em, skills he was damn good at and never shy to prove. In retirement, he found joy in crafting personalized clocks and custom TV tray tables, creating pieces as unique and thoughtful as the man himself.
Oscar recently celebrated 59 beautiful years of marriage with the love of his life, Ida Acosta, an enduring testament to their devotion and partnership. Together, they built a family grounded in warmth, laughter, and unwavering support.
He is survived by his three beautiful daughters: Melissa Pedroza (Javy), Melinda Brandon (Steven), and Marsell Hernandez (Hector). He leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Kayla (Pawel), Deeandra, Serena, Savannah, Lucas, Isaiah, and Destinay—and two precious great-grandsons, Paxson and Darius. Oscar is also survived by his loving sisters, Lola and Malena. He is preceded in death by his brother Manuel and his twin brother Carlos, with whom he now reunites in eternal peace.
Oscar’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. His courage, kindness, humor, and love will forever be remembered and deeply missed.
