Pablo Caldera

Pablo was born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico on June 29, 1954 to Alejandra Caldera Espinoza. He became a proud American citizen on March 29, 1971 at the young age of 16. Graduating from Bowie High School in 1973, he was a firm believer of the slogan, “Once a Bear, Always a Bear” later working for the district of his alma mater.

He met his future wife Alicia Torres in his teens as she was the sister of a close friend. After four years of dating they married on October 22, 1976. Pablo worked for the El Paso Independent School District Maintenance Department for 30 years retiring in December 2006. Pablo was a jack of all trades and skilled in maintenance and construction, spending most weekends completing odd jobs for family and friends. He was a hard worker who enjoyed staying busy, leading him to go back to full time employment at La Fe Preparatory School in 2010. He worked there for 15 years earning the affectionate title of “Pablito” from the children of the school.

Pablo had a passion for woodworking making everything from frames, cabinets, porches and even whole buildings. At home he enjoyed gardening, completing word searches, listening to “oldies” on Sundays and prided himself on the tidiness and maintenance of his car and truck.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years Alicia Caldera, his children, Rosa Torres (Joel Martinez), Pablo Caldera, Jr. (Jackie Ordaz), David Caldera (Clarissa Caldera) and Angie Chavez (Rudy Chavez) and his five grandchildren (Jesus Martinez, Angel Martinez, Jeremiah Caldera, Isaiah Caldera, and Monica Caldera). A kind man with a soft spot for animals, he also leaves behind his cat Oreo and dogs Chiquita and Baby.

Visitation will take place from 5-9 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Funeraria Del Angel Evergreen East (12400 East Montana, El Paso, Texas, 79938) with vigil service at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 am on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish (408 S. Park St., El Paso, Texas, 79901).
