Our loving and devoted mother, Petra Serrano Delgado, went home to Our Lord on January 18, 2014. Mom was 94 years young. She was born on June 9, 1919. She was preceded in death by her parents Teodora and Pedro Serrano. She was the proud mother of two sons and one daughter: Richard Delgado, John Delgado and Rosalie Delgado. Mom was a caring mother, who put the needs of her children first and foremost. She became a single parent, who was strong, independent, and perpetually optimistic. These life values were admired and passed on to all of us. She worked for several years at the White House Department Store as a telephone operator. She was also a proud great grandmother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. All were very important people in her life as well as all her friends and she loved them dearly. She is loved by her entire family and will be greatly missed for her kind heart, gentle smile, and strong belief in God. She loved watching the Miner basketball team and her novelas. She enjoyed crossword puzzles each morning with her cup of coffee and cleaning up a storm every day. She is also survived by two sisters, Cruz Guillen and Lena Romero as well as many nieces and nephews. Our mother was such a special woman, and trusted in God with all her heart and was a fighter till the end. We know God needed a special angel like her. Rest in peace, and know that you were loved just as much as you loved us. We will miss you every day. Our mom was a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas. A visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Funeraria Del Angel Martin Central on 3839 Montana Ave. A funeral mass will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 23, 2014 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1700 George Dieter. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery on 4301Alameda.
