Raquel S. Garcia

Raquel S Garcia, born 16 September 1926 in El Paso, Texas, ended her final journey 25 July 2013.Raquel attended the College of Mines (UTEP) where she studied Education, and was a graduate of Bowie High School.Raquel worked at the Popular, as a dental assistant and finally in the Credit Department at the El Paso National Bank/Chase Bank until her retirement. Raquel loved spending time with family, visiting with friends and playing with her Australian Shepherds. She enjoyed music, eating out and watching CNN or Lawrence Welk. Her personality was vibrant and her energy would fill any room she entered. Raquel was loved by everyone, she knew no strangers and would talk and visit with everyone.Raquel was preceded in death by her husband Rafael M Garcia, her brother David Soto and her Sister Quina Newstrom. Raquel is survived by her oldest son, Rafael Garcia, Jr, her daughter Rebekah Garcia and her youngest son Robert Garcia. She is also survived by her sisters Elizabeth Gutierrez, Celia Llanez, Lilly Martel, and her brother Robert (Beto) Soto all of California and her sister Gail Galvan of El Paso. Survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins as well as JT, Bucky, Tess and Adele. Visitation will be at Martin Funeral Home 3839 Montana Avenue, Monday, July 29 from 5 – 9 PM. Services will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, Tuesday, July 30 at 1:00, burial at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
