Richard William Holguin passed away peacefully on December 25, 2023 at the age of 84. Richard was a loyal brother, fun uncle and devoted godfather to the members of his entire family. He was born in El Paso to Hector Trinidad and Antonia Holguin
and attended St Patrick's School and Cathedral High before joining the US Navy. While in the service of his country, he served onboard the USS Kearsarge, which was the carrier that recovered the space capsule that transported Wally Schirra and Gordon Cooper into space and back.
After serving his country, Richard became a member of the staff of Holguin & Associates, which was later renamed as Accugraph Corporation. Richard managed the extensive production and shipment of software packages. Ultimately, Richard retired and spent the rest of his healthy life caring for his parents, assuring that they got the best care, until their passing.
Richard lived his life in El Paso to the fullest. He especially enjoyed the company of his parents, and that of his many nieces and one nephew. Attending their school functions and always cheering them on during their school years. His true passion was to cheer for his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys!
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and is survived by his brother Hector (Rosario) and his sister Bibi (Servi) and his numerous nieces and a nephew.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the personnel at Mountain View Health Care for their loving care, and to his cousins: Chiqui, Memo and Daniel for the love and attention they gave to Richard during his final days.
A Memorial Mass will be held at the Holy Family Church on January 9th at 9am, with the Interment ceremony following at Evergreen Mausoleum on Alameda at 11am.
Honorary pallbearers will be Servi Hernandez, Tito Medina, Dick Medina, Memo Medina, Daniel Casavantes and Sal Canchola.
