Rodney "Rod" Andrew Crosby

El Paso has lost a true music legend. Rodney (Rod) Andrew Crosby, age 76, of El Paso, Texas passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022. Rod is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Patricia Ann Crosby. They would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in June. Rod is, also, survived by his brother-in-law John Pfannenstiel (Mary Ann), his brother-in-law Thomas Pfannenstiel (Marsha), his sister-in-law Mary Carr (Joe) and his brother-in-law Robert Pfannenstiel (Michelle), his stepbrother Brent Skipper. He, also, leaves behind many nieces and nephews to cherish his memory. Rod was preceded in death by his father, Albert Andrew Crosby and his mother, Lois Anita Moseley. Rod moved to El Paso in 1960 and graduated with the Class of 1963 from Austin High School. In 1960, Rod started playing the guitar and singing with the Intruders. His band was always requested for the Austin after-school dances. The two music groups that he most admired were the Bobby Fuller Four and Buddy Holly & the Crickets. Rod was asked to join Bobby Fuller’s group and turned down the offer. Rod Crosby & the Intruders played at clubs, for parties, high school reunions, fraternity and sorority dances, corporate events, backed up celebrity singers and co-chaired the Border Legends music concert for eight years. In 1972, Rod started Crosby Sound, which rented audio equipment for meetings, weddings, concerts, dances, and events. Crosby’s Rosewood Studio is a recording studio built by Rod from the ground up. He recorded local bands and several became famous. Every musician in El Paso knew Rod and his immense talent for singing, playing guitar, and his exacting ability for getting the sound perfect at any event. When he wasn’t playing with his group, he was making others sound great. He was incredibly generous with his time and advice. Rod will be missed by everyone that knew him. A visitation for Rod will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2022 - Visitation 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Memorial 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave., El Paso, TX, 79903.
