

Rodolfo Duron Garcia (Cuyo), passed away on July 27, 2008 during his courageous second battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mariano and Concepcion Garcia. He was born and lived in El Paso, TX for 75 years. He graduated from Bowie High School in 1951 and honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Rodolfo was an electrician for Southern Pacific Railroad for 30 years until he retired in 1989. Left to cherish his memory is his loving and caring wife of 51 years, Isela H. Garcia, daughter Cecilia B. Garcia, M.D. (Cesar), sons Rodolfo C. Garcia (Virginia), and Victor S. Garcia (fiancé Dora); grandchildren Christian Delgado, Marissa Garcia, and Eric Garcia; sisters Emma Villareal, Juanita Garcia, and brother Mariano Garcia Jr. Also, survived by several brothers-sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. Cuyo and Isela had a wonderful loving marriage and were committed to each other through both the good and challenging times. They always made it a priority to take great care of each other. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren who affectionately called him "Pa." He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who was very giving, hardworking, enjoyed helping others, and whose focus was always on his family. He was happiest when attending his family celebrations, school functions, piano recitals, and sports activities. Rodolfo also enjoyed having his family at his home where there was always lots of love. He loved watching his favorite team the L.A. Dodgers. Rodolfo was a member of the Bowie High School baseball team; he played fast pitch softball (U.S. ISC Champions) and slow pitch softball (Fox Plaza Barbershop) for many years. He shared his love for baseball by coaching youth baseball (Southeast T-Birds/Mt Franklin Kiwanis). He was blessed to have been a twenty year cancer survivor and fought his recent battle with cancer courageously until his calling by the Lord. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2008 from 5 pm to 9 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 3839 Montana Ave. with Vigil Services at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 4, 2008 at 9:45 am at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church, 4700 Delta Dr. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Aung and Dr. Gregory E. Martin.
