Tom was a kind and gentle-natured soul who always had a sparkle in his eyes and a smile on his face. He was all about family. He loved science fiction and thinking about the future. The first moonwalk was on his 5th birthday. Tom was a star ship captain – and his own first mate (Kirk and Spock on either end of his “ship”). A cowboy (though a Steelers fan - yellow and black is welcome at his service), he loved his beautiful wife, family and ranch, had his favorite hat, horses and dogs. A lover, a dreamer and a dancer, Western swing was his “thang.” But he loved his rock music, too - Saturday night bonfires he cranked up Boston and Skynyrd.
Tom was also a “fireman” - putting out fires, mostly other people’s, none too big, too tough or too small. He always had time for everybody, always helped. It wasn't in him to say “no.” Nobody was more generous. He was a “Peter Pan,” forever little boy in all the best ways. He loved his computers, gadgets and “toys.” Though he was big and strong (inside and out), he was a teddy bear, a “cookie monster” and his Mom’s “yellow rose of Texas.”
He was our hero. We are so proud of the way he lived his life – a success in every way that matters.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend.
Our sweet Tommy, if you're not in Heaven already, “second star to the right and straight on ‘till morning.” We'll see you there and miss you dearly 'till then.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, April Louise Simpson Dively; son, Ryan Thomas Dively; daughter, Stephanie Reanne Dively Porras, her husband, Isaac - their children - Reanne, Brandon and Zachary; parents, Sheldon Eugene and Judith Elaine Mattimore Dively, brother, Michael E.
