The world grew a little quieter on April 9, 2026, when Timothy Joseph Hourigan passed away peacefully at his home in Las Cruces, New Mexico, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 13, 1951, in Pampa, Texas, Tim lived a life marked by purpose, rhythm, endurance, and deep love for the people around him.
At nineteen, Tim chose a life of service. He would give twenty‑six years to the United States Army, beginning as a young soldier and retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in Military Intelligence. Those years shaped him—instilling a steady discipline, a fierce loyalty, and a quiet strength he carried into every chapter that followed. Even after hanging up his uniform, the values of service never left him.
Along the way, he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso and later an MBA from Florida International University, believing deeply in growth, curiosity, and the responsibility to prepare oneself for the next challenge. After the Army, he spent two decades as a management consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton, followed by four years at Apogee—where his insight, integrity, and steady leadership left a lasting mark.
Tim lived life with both grit and joy. He ran marathons, competed in Ironman events, and found freedom on long cycling rides—drawn to pursuits that demanded endurance, determination, and heart. He loved the outdoors, bow hunting, tubing, traveling, and giving back to his community. He danced, competed fiercely on game nights, and cheered passionately for soccer. A certified referee and a proud member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Tim showed up fully for the things he loved.
Music was the thread that ran through it all. His life carried a constant rhythm—classic rock, Irish traditional music, the steady beat of his bodhrán, and the laughter that followed his stories. He played and sang with Hooligans, and his St. Patrick’s Day celebrations became legendary gatherings of music, friendship, and joy. His Irish heritage lived not just in what he played, but in how he welcomed people, how he told stories, and how he built community wherever he went.
Above all else, Tim was a family man. He was the rock of his family—steady, loving, humorous, and always ready with a story. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Donna; his son Trevor and his wife, Darla; his son Robert and his partner, Faith; his beloved grandson, Casey; his brother, Stephen, and his wife, Jackie; and his sisters‑in‑law, Durenda, Debi, Denisa, Leticia, and Josephine. He also leaves a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives are richer for having known him. He believed his sons had achieved everything he could ever have wished for them.
Tim’s legacy lives on in the people he shaped, the miles he ran, the music he played, the stories he told, and the love he gave so freely. Though the world feels quieter without him, his song remains.
