December 7, 1947 – June 25, 2025
Our beloved father, grandfather, and brother, Tomas Vega, passed away peacefully on June 25,
2025, in El Paso, Texas, at the age of 77.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sofia Carolina Vega, with whom he shared wonderful
years full of love, His parents: Jesus Vega and Paula Velasquez Vega and his siblings Roberto
Vega, Teodoro Vega, Jose Angel Vega, Rafael Vega, Francisco Vega and Jesus Vega Jr.
Tomas is survived by his son, Tomas Javier Vega, and his granddaughters, Monserrat Vega and
Victoria Lucia Vega. He is also survived by his siblings: Guadalupe Armstrong, Susano Vega,
Juan Vega, and Natividad Vega-Griffith.
He proudly served his country in the US Army as an SP4, stationed in Fort Hood, Texas up until
his honorable discharge in 1974. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense
Service Medal, Harlem (Rifle M-14), and the Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle M-16).
Tomas had a love for sports and auto-mechanics. He enjoyed watching baseball and football,
rooting for the Houston Astros, and following Dallas Cowboys. He had a deep interest in cars—
he liked taking care of the maintenance of all the family cars, watching repair videos, and
exploring anything related to mechanics.
He was a man who valued family, simple joys, and quiet routines. His memory will be carried on
by those who knew and loved him.
