

SGM Walter Joseph Reeves Sr. Walter was born October 10, 1928, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Chauncey and Myrtle Reeves. Walter graduated from Xavier Preparatory High School and attended the University of Texas El Paso after his 30 years in the United States Army. During his enlistment, he served two tours in Vietnam, overseas duty in Germany and Italy. Completing his career at Fort Bliss, Texas as the AG Personnel Sgt Maj (SGM) Mr. Reeves was very active in his Catholic faith all his life. He served as an Usher at St Michael's Catholic Church at Fort Bliss. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus Council No. 638 for 18 years and was the Financial Secretary for 13 years. He also was a member of the Cristo Rey Assembly 1113. He is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Reeves, his son Maurice Reeves, one brother and four sisters. Survivors include his son, Walter J. Reeves Jr. (Constance) of Pass Christian, MS, two grandchildren, Walter J. Reeves III of St Paul, MN and Eve T. Reeves of Pass Christian, MS, one sister, Carolyn McManus of New Orleans, LA and a Host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be Monday, July 28, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Martin Central with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Graveside Service will be Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Interment will be at St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 in New Orleans, LA.
