Our beloved mother, Yolanda Estelle Delgado, known lovingly as "Yolie," answered our Lord’s calling on July 18, 2026, in Houston, Texas. She was 83 years old, born on April 10, 1943, in El Paso, Texas, to loving parents Ernesto and Ernestina Carrasco.
On July 13, 1968, our mom married our beloved dad, Vicente Delgado, and together they shared 38 years of marriage. She was strong and resilient, yet deeply caring. Although she lived with chronic illness for many years, she met each challenge with quiet determination, refusing to let it define her life. She loved our family gatherings, cheering on her NBA basketball teams, and especially loved her mariachi music and spoiling our beloved poodle, Leon.
Yolie was a woman of exceptional work ethic and quiet strength. She dedicated 36 years to Farah Manufacturing Company, where she served as a quality inspector supervisor. At her time at Farah, she pursued studies at International Business College, though she always said her true likes were math and putting together fundraisers where she could coordinate all the goodies. As many know, she had quite the sweet tooth for her “pan dulce.”
Yolie is survived by her son Rene Delgado; daughter Leticia Cruz, her son-in-law Rick Cruz (bonus grandma to Michelle Cruz Garcia and Rickie Cruz Jr.); her brother Richard Carrasco (son Richard Anthony); her sisters Norma Chavez (daughter Celeste, grandchildren Jorge Israel II and Ariella, son Ray), and Priscilla Donohoe (husband Danny Sr., sons Danny Jr. and Jaime Agustin); and numerous nephews, nieces, and godchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Vicente Delgado, her parents Ernesto and Ernestina Carrasco, parents in law Francisco and Elisa Delgado, and numerous family members.
Pallbearers are Rene Delgado, Rickie Cruz Jr., Danny Donohoe Jr., Jaime Agustin Donohoe, Ray Chavez, and Jorge Israel Ramirez. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Cruz, Richard Carrasco, Danny Donohoe Sr., Jose Manuel Cardona, and Gilbert Sanchez.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 10 am to 1 pm, with Rosary/Vigil at 12:30 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home, 12400 Montana Ave., El Paso, Texas 79938. Rite of Committal will follow at Evergreen Cemetery East.
Thank you to our Lord Jesus Christ, St. Jude Thaddeus, Our Lady of San Juan de Los Lagos, and San Lorenzo for guiding me through Mom’s life journey. To our family members and to our friends whom have become our extended family, we thank you for your continued prayers.
Our mom’s spirit rests in eternal peace in time to celebrate our dad’s heavenly birthday on July 19th.
When I am dead cry for me a little.
Think of me and remember me as I am in life.
At some moments it is pleasant to recall.
Leave me in peace, and I shall leave you in peace.
And while you live, live grand.
Let your thoughts be of happiness, for we will meet again.
