

Nancy Bruso Hammond passed away peacefully at her home in Estes Park on April 29, 2026. She was born in Fargo, North Dakota on January 4, 1950, to Harold and Ruth Bruso. Nancy was an only child. She spent her pre-teen years in Salt Lake City, Utah, and the family moved to Wheatridge, CO during her early teen years.
Nancy attended Wheatridge High School and the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. She worked as a Medical Laboratory Technologist in the Pediatric Microchemistry Laboratory at the University of Colorado Medical Center and the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory at The Children’s Hospital in Denver.
Nancy married Keith B. Hammond in 1979 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Denver. They lived in Aurora, CO, before moving to Estes Park in 1987. They had no children. Nancy was a really fun person to be around and could make everyone laugh with her. She was a loyal and caring friend to many. She loved to hike and had climbed all the Colorado 14ers! She hiked the Colorado Trail and the Wonderland Trail around Mount Rainier with her best friend, Linda, and enjoyed many hikes in England and Wales with Keith. She was also an enthusiastic photographer who developed her own photos. They enjoyed traveling together. In 1996, she obtained her Private Pilot’s Certificate!
Nancy is predeceased by her parents Harold and Ruth (Brevik) Bruso. She is survived by her husband Keith Bradley Hammond, and step-daughters Cheryl Kusick and family and Alison Talbert and family. Cousins Mary-Beth Amundson, Vicki Eastvold, and Jane Asp hold memories and love for her in their hearts.
