Robert Patin

Born on October 24, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Bob was the son of Robert W. Patin Sr. and Mary Bilque-Patin. He was raised alongside his sister, Polly Patin-Mellor, and carried with him the values of hard work, compassion, and service throughout his life.

Bob earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Muskingum University, a foundation that launched a distinguished career as an insurance executive. Throughout his professional life, he was widely respected within the insurance industry for his leadership, vision, and dedication. Beyond his career, Bob generously shared his time and talents by serving on numerous philanthropic, collegiate, and professional advisory boards. He believed deeply in giving back and was always willing to help strengthen the organizations and communities he cared about.

On August 14, 1965, Bob married the love of his life, Lorraine Carol Cedik. Together they built a marriage founded on love, partnership, and family. Their life together was filled with devotion, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

Bob’s greatest pride came from helping others. He was known for his generosity, kindness, and willingness to lend a hand whenever it was needed. While he enjoyed many accomplishments throughout his life, nothing was more important to him than his family. He often reminded those around him that it was “Family First,” a belief he demonstrated every day through his love, support, and unwavering commitment to those closest to him.

An avid fly fisherman, Bob found peace and joy on the water. Whether casting a line on a quiet stream or spending time outdoors with family and friends, he treasured nature and the simple pleasures it offered.

Bob was an active member of The Church of the Holy Comforter in Kenilworth, Illinois, where his faith reflected his lifelong commitment to service, compassion, and caring for others.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorraine C. Patin. He is lovingly survived by his daughters, Alyson Daker (Matthew Daker) and Jennifer Patin (Robert Rosinski); his sister, Polly Patin-Mellor; and his cherished grandchildren, Payton Witherell, Cameron Witherell, Kellen Witherell, Jayk Rosinski, Madeline Witherell, Matthew Daker Jr., and Andrew Daker.

Bob will be remembered for his generous spirit, steadfast character, quiet leadership, and genuine concern for others. He lived with purpose, gave without expectation, led with humility, and loved unconditionally. His influence reached far beyond his profession, touching the lives of family, friends, colleagues, and everyone fortunate enough to know him. His family will forever cherish the example he set, the wisdom he shared, and the love he gave so freely. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of generosity and service will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Muskingum University, organizations that held special meaning to Bob.
