Russell Alexander Johnson
February 2, 1991 – May 11, 2019
Russell Alexander Johnson (1991-2019) found eternal peace Saturday, May 11 with his loved ones nearby. He is survived by his mother, Carol Johnson of Menomonie, Wisconsin; his father, Robert Johnson of Estes Park; and his sister Kate Johnson of Denver, Colorado. Russ was looking forward to joining the medial profession in appreciation of the many physicians from Boulder Community Hospital and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN who saved his life from a previous motor vehicle accident in 2014. His doctors at the Mayo clinic knew him well and often called him their “miracle patient.” Russ was working on his degree and had recently been accepted to the Surgical Tech program at Front Range Community College this fall where he had been awarded a scholarship. Before his passing he was on the most positive trajectory of his life. Russ didn’t want a funeral or flowers. In honor of his beloved rescue dog Sampson, Russ asked that family and friends make a donation to any local animal shelter on his behalf.

It was with great shock and sadness when I learned of Russ passing. I watched him overcome so many challenges and continue to work towards his goals. I didn't know Russ long, but knew a great deal about him. He had great inner strength despite the challenges he faced. My deepest and most sincere condolences to Robert and his entire family. May his memory bring you light, peace and love.

It was with great sadness that Annelies and I learned of Russell's passing. We remember him as an inquisitive, energetic and loving preschooler who attended our daycare in the 1990s.
We recall his special friendship with Michael Jones. The pair were virtually inseparable and filled Pooh Korner with great joy. We look at old photo albums and his infectious smile jumps off the pages.
Looking back at our 20 years in Estes Park, it is with wonderful fondness that we remember Russell and his family. He is a special memory to us.
We send deepest condolences to Robert, Carol and Kate. Blessings of comfort and Love be with you.

A year ago I visited Robert and Russell in Estes Park. I remember two remarkable conversations I had with Russell when Robert was elsewhere. I was astounded at the knowledge Russell had accumulated about medical technology. This was a specialized field he had been studying and looking forward to working in. Unfortunately, Russell Alexander has passed away. This is sad time for all who have known Russell and how he has struggled for recovery. I tried to explain to a friend of mine here in Colorado Springs what had happened to the son of my best friend, and all I could say is what I write now; Russell Alexander never recovered from the accident he had when his car slid on ice into a granite cliff. I love and admire his mother, father, and sister. I wish them well. Sincerely, Marshall Griffith

I was with Russ and his father 14 years ago at a 4th of July reunion amongst us older guys. It looked like he had a really great time buying all the fireworks he could get his hands on and setting up a private fireworks display off a pontoon in a rural NY pond. All of us older folks were really treated. So good to hear that he was progressing in his chosen field. I lost a son 22 years ago, so I know the shock and pain. My heartfelt sympathies to Bob and his family. Let me know if you would like to talk.

Russ was my very first friend—I could not possibly understand or put into words what an enormous, wonderful impact he has had on my life, and the lives of all blessed to grow up beside him. My love and deepest condolences to Carol, Robert and Katie.
