Charles Robert Wade

Charles Robert Ward, lovingly known as Bob, passed away peacefully at his home on July 15, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on March 27, 1945, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Bob was the only child of Roy and Margaret Wade. He attended Youngstown State University in Ohio before marrying the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Becca, in 1965. Together they shared an incredible 61 years of marriage built on love, friendship, and unwavering devotion. In 1966, Bob was called to serve his country in the United States Army. During his two years of service, he spent a year in Vietnam, where he was exposed to Agent Orange-an experience that led to many health challenges throughout his life. He remained proud of his military service and was a longtime member of the American Legion. After returning home, Bob built a successful career as a self-employed manufacturers’ representative, selling industrial chemical coatings to customers including power plants, bridge projects and Walt Disney World. Bob and Becca eventually made Florida their home, first living in Windermere before settling in Mount Dora, where they spent more than 30 happy years. Everywhere Bob went, he made lifelong friends with his warm smile, easy conversation, and genuine kindness. One of his favorite daily traditions was meeting friends at the local coffee shop each morning. Those gatherings were about far more than coffee-they were filled with laughter, stories, and friendships that meant the world to him. An avid long-distance motorcyclist, Bob loved the open road. He enjoyed countless adventures traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. In his later years, he and Becca embraced another adventure, traveling the country in their motorhome with their beloved cat and motorcycle always along for the ride. Bob will be remembered for his generous heart, his love of family and friends, his sense of humor, and his ability to make everyone feel welcome. To many, Bob was more than a friend-he was like family. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering presence touched countless lives, and his memory will be treasured forever. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Becca, and also leaving many good friends, along with extended family, including Bonnie and John Yates, with whom he shared a close and special relationship. Bob will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a later date.
