Duane Elton Hall, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, in the home he built and shared with his sweetheart, Dorothy, in 1985. Born on February 15, 1929, in Palm Beach, Florida, Duane lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service.
The son of Kenneth and Evalyn Hall, Duane was predeceased by his parents, his brother Clifford, his sister Shirley, and his devoted wife Dorothy (Mims), with whom he shared 69 years of marriage. Together, Duane and Dot created a beautiful family, leaving behind a legacy of love in their children, Larry (Mary Jaye) Hall and Robert (Denise) Hall. He was a proud grandfather to Jason Hall, Nick (Melody) Hall, Aly (Evan) Vandermolen, Matt (Yulia) DeBari, Katie (Hunter) Peacock, Kenneth (Casey) Hall, Carolyn Hall, and Rebekah Hall (engaged to Joshua Stephens). His family continued to grow with the blessing of eleven great-grandchildren.
Duane served his country with honor in the United States Air Force from November 1, 1951, to October 31, 1955. It was there that he received the avionics training that led to a rewarding career with Pan American Airlines, from which he retired on December 31, 1984. Duane was a man of many talents, interests and tools, often holding multiple jobs simultaneously, from refrigeration technician to music ministry. If there was a job to be done, Duane was up for the challenge.
A man of deep faith, Duane was a devoted member of Bay Street Baptist Church. He contributed generously to the music and sound ministries and served for many years leading the Building and Grounds committee. In recognition of his years of service to the families of Bay Street as a Deacon, he was honored as Deacon Emeritus on his 97th birthday in February 2026. Duane's passion for building and creating was evident not only in his home but also in the numerous upgrades he made to the church facilities. His garage, shop, and shed stand as testaments to his many projects and the history he crafted with his own hands.
Duane leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and hard work. His life was a testament to his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his faith, and his commitment to his community. While he has gone to rest in the arms of Jesus and give his Sweetheart a hug and a kiss, his spirit lives on in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Care Aides and staff of Home Instead who were of such service to Duane during his final months. They also kindly request any donations be made in Duane's memory to Bay Street Baptist Church's Building by Faith Fund.
