Richard S. Paulin was a middle son in a family of 11 children raised by Alfred Paulin and Hellen Booker Paulin in Cumberland, Rhode Island. Surrounded by a family with hearty love and laughter, and examples of hard work, resilience and resourcefulness, Rick carried these qualities throughout his life. Wrapped in deep faith, his big heart touched the lives of so many people whose paths he crossed.
He moved to the Central Florida region with his wife Janice Hobbs Paulin, where they raised their two children, Annette Marie and Richard Samuel Jr. Hard-working and independent, he supported them through his 50 plus year painting business. Through this work, he connected with his community, always taking an interest in the people and businesses within the many places he painted. He always had stories to share of the people he worked with, while he beautified so many of the spaces which people frequent every day.
His big heart easily embraced new members of his family, including beloved daughter-in-law Dina Pancoast Paulin and greatly cherished grandchildren, Lea and Harrison Paulin. He truly loved sharing simple times with his family and friends; always finding something to give of himself – from his time to thoughtful gifts from a genuine heart – he was a true good Samaritan.
His spiritual family of extended brothers and sisters in Christ hail from congregations in Lexington Kentucky, where he attended bible seminary, and many congregations throughout Central Florida. This family grounded him in his deep faith, and he found great reward being of service in these communities.
Richard Paulin is reunited with his brother Roger Paulin, sisters Arliene Kittell and Patricia Griswold, and former wife Janice Hobbs Paulin, all held dearly in his heart.
He is survived by his daughter Annette Marie and granddaughter Lea Metta Paulin; his son Rick Samuel Jr., daughter-in-law Dina and grandson Harrison Paulin; and siblings Alfred Paulin, Donald Paulin, Jeffrey Paulin, Joan Plante, Linda Moreau, Mitchell Paulin and Karen Paulin, as well as many extended beloved relations.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00am at Citrus Missionary Baptist Church, 6690 E Turner Camp Road, Inverness, Florida 34453.
