Robert James Close

Robert built a respected career as a respiratory therapist and, at the height of his profession, led a department at Helen Hayes Hospital in New York. Throughout his career, he took pride in mentoring others and encouraging those around him to reach their own potential.

Robert passed away surrounded by the love of his children, Jessica Smith, Jared Close, Eric Close, and Alex Close. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Lavallee, and his beloved grandchildren, Sawyer Atlas Smith and Jolene Blaer Smith, children of Jessica, and Isaac James Close, son of Jared, who was named in his honor.

A memorial service will be held March 16, 2026, at Harden-Pauli Funeral Home in Eustis, Florida. Visitation with the family will take place from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by the service at 3:00 p.m.
