

Shelvy Jean Lucas, 87, of Eustis, Florida, passed away on March 9, 2026. She was born on September 29, 1938, in Smithfield, Virginia. After this introduction, Jean will be remembered as a beloved, generous, faithful, gentle, and kind-hearted woman whose presence brought comfort to those who knew her. Jean was a homemaker and had lived in Florida since 1976, having come from Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was always there for her children. She volunteered at their school and never missed the sporting events or competitions in which they participated. Jean had a green thumb. It showed with her immaculate yard and beautiful flowers. Jean extended her heart not only to her family but to her beloved fur babies. She willingly helped anyone-person or animal. She gave freely and selflessly to those around her. Jean's life was a testament of unconditional love. Jean is survived by her sons, Wayne W. Lockett of Apopka, Florida; Mark S. Lockett (Loretta) of Fruitland Park; and William Earl Jackson Lockett Jr. of Bartow, Florida; and her daughters, Martha Robinette (Bill) of Umatilla, Florida, and Melissa Boone (Bryan) of Tavares, Florida. She is also survived by her brothers, Jack Barrett (Lucille), Leonard Thomas Barrett Jr. (Dana), and Roy Barrett (Nina); and her sisters, Betty Peden (Dean) and Ellen Huchingson. Shelvy was preceded in death by her sister, Ginger Kirkman. Jean was preceded in death by her first husband William E. Lockett, Sr. and second husband David Keith Lucas. Jean's legacy continues through her 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
