Tim was a parallel entrepreneur (his words) and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a Master Storyteller, a world-renowned speaker and captivating expert on the American Architect Frank Lloyd Wright. He was happiest when immersed in the many projects he passionately pursued, dedicating his time and creativity to both his businesses and the charitable organizations he deeply loved. Tim created the Amazing Race for Charity in Eustis in 2014 and ran it as the Race Director and President until gifting it to the City of Eustis in 2025. He was also the founder and co-organizer of TEDx Eustis from 2018 until 2025 and continued in 2026 as a curator and coach. He was an aspiring novelist, interactive media creator and visionary game creator.
Tim grew up in Samsula, Florida. He was an academically gifted student with his love of Frank Lloyd Wright starting early in life. Tim initially attended the University of Florida to study architecture, before he realized the pursuit of designing was for him. He learned sewing at the sides of his two grandmothers at an early age. He combined his love of sewing with his wit and ingenuity to become the largest producer and manufacturer of products in the world for the funeral home industry.
Tim is survived by an amazing family who he loved with his whole heart. His greatest joys were his son, Jacob Young, and his fiancé, Matthew (Brad) Lord. His hero was his grandmother, Patricia Skipper who at 93 continues to run circles around the family. He gets his drive for hard work and perseverance from her and his other family members, including his parents, Robin Richter (Joseph), Lynn D. Totten, Sr., and Linda Totten. He is a beloved brother of Lynn D. Totten, Jr., Crystal Totten, MD (Murielle), Geiger Powell (Hannah), Gary Parker (Amanda), and Tracy Schilke. Tim is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He had a cat named Sophia.
To say he is missed is a huge understatement. His love for Eustis, Florida, his adopted hometown, was evident in all the things he did for the community. He loved musical theatre, to travel and to say YES to any and every opportunity. Tim leaves behind a legacy of kindness, adventure, compassion, and love that will continue to ripple through all who knew him. He will always be remembered for the way he made people feel seen, valued, and loved.
Tim’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Hideaway Performing Arts Center, 431 Plaza Drive, Eustis, Florida on Saturday June 6, 2026 at 1pm. Donations of plants or perennial flowers will be accepted. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to The Timothy Totten Legacy Fund via Go Fund Me or inquiries to [email protected].
