Virginia L. Holmes

Virginia L. Holmes, 92, passed away on September 7, 2026. Born July 13, 1934, in Keyser, West Virginia, Virginia was the daughter of the late Hiley and Tina Fleek. She moved to Leesburg, Florida, in 2000 from Whippany, New Jersey. Virginia worked as an Accounting Administrative Assistant, a role that reflected her steady diligence, reliability, and care in supporting the work around her. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Holmes. Virginia is survived by her son, John R. Holmes of Leesburg; her daughter, Vicky L. (James) Kane of Hopatcong, New Jersey; five grandchildren, Christine, Sean, Thomas, Lauren, and Ryan; and five great-grandchildren, Lillian, Kyla, Carson, Skylar, and Jamie. Virginia found genuine enjoyment in the simple pleasures of time well spent with others. She loved playing Mahjong at Mid-Florida Lakes, and she also delighted in bowling and card games—pastimes that suited her warm spirit and appreciation for friendly competition. She also loved slot machines and casinos, especially Atlantic City. She will be laid to rest with her late husband at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
